Delta Region Community Health Systems Development (DRCHSD) Program: Empowering Rural Health Care
The Delta Region Community Health Systems Development (DRCHSD) Program is gearing up for its next cohort, and the call for applications is officially open! This initiative, which aims to bolster health care systems in rural areas, is now accepting applications from interested facilities to kick off programming in Winter 2023. If you are part of a health care organization in the Delta region, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss.
What is the DRCHSD Program?
The DRCHSD Program is a collaborative effort involving the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP), the Delta Regional Authority (DRA), and the National Rural Health Resource Center. Since its inception in 2017, the program has successfully supported 54 health care organizations and communities, providing them with essential resources and guidance. The program is specifically designed for Critical Access Hospitals, small rural hospitals, Rural Health Clinics (RHCs), and other rural health care organizations.
Comprehensive Support for Rural Health Facilities
One of the standout features of the DRCHSD Program is the extensive technical assistance it offers, amounting to nearly $250,000 per year. This support encompasses a wide range of areas crucial for the improvement and sustainability of rural health care facilities, including:
- Quality Improvement: Strategies and tools to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
- Financial and Operational Improvement: Guidance on financial management and operational best practices.
- Telehealth Services: Development and implementation of telehealth solutions, including funding for necessary equipment and training.
- Community Care Coordination: Initiatives to improve collaboration among health care providers and community resources.
- Workforce and Leadership Development: Training programs aimed at building leadership skills and workforce capacity.
- Emergency Medical Services: Support for enhancing emergency response capabilities.
- Population Health: Strategies to address the health needs of specific populations within the community.
Financial Support for Telehealth Development
In today’s digital age, telehealth has become an essential component of health care delivery, especially in rural areas where access to services can be limited. The DRCHSD Program recognizes this need and provides financial support specifically for the development and implementation of telehealth services. This includes funding for equipment, software, hardware, and training, ensuring that facilities can effectively integrate telehealth into their service offerings.
Informational Webinars: Your Gateway to Understanding the Program
To help interested facilities navigate the application process and learn more about the program, the DRCHSD is hosting a series of informational webinars. These sessions are tailored to different types of health care organizations:
-
